Cube were appointed to undertake the design and refurbishment of the Volkswagen Group National Contact Centre based in Leeds. VWG wished to provide a more open feel to the environment for their employees in the 25,000 square foot facility and create individually identifiable space for each of the five separate brands within the Group. Working with the VW Senior team, Cube re-engineered the space to create separate zones and introduced a carpet design to identify demarcation between the separate spaces linking one area to the another across the open plan space. Each space had its own breakout space, designed to fit to corners of the building, these housing purpose built coffee and recycle stations, lounge seating and decorative lighting.

In addition, each space was provided with operational service centres with printing, faxes, waste and recycling facilities combined in to purpose built units, providing space efficiency and keeping this neat. VWG wished to have a facility to display parts,  Cube designed and built these using a specifically designed illuminated glass shelving system.

In addition to operational space, the facility benefits from a conference and training suite, complete with purpose built conference room table with built in power, data and audio visual connectivity to a 60 inch LCD screen which is back illuminated using LED lighting.

The project was complicated by the fact that the NCC had to remain operational throughout the redevelopment and it was essential there was no interruption to the service whilst works were undertaken this required several moves around the building for all employees to facilitate the project. The project some 34 weeks in duration, was completed in six phases, on time and to the original budget proposed by Cube.

Alison Jones Head of Contact Centre Strategy remarked

" We had not worked with Cube previously, they had been recommended to us as an organisation that had significant expertise in delivering a project of this nature in an environment where maintaining the service and minimising the disruption to our employees for a critical success factor.

The project has been executed in a completely professional manner and we have hardly known it was happening. The finished product has delivered exactly what we were looking for and Cube have been attentive to our requirements throughout the whole project. Our new facilitate now truely reflects the Group concept of what our NCC should look like and we have been delighted with the look and quality of the project that has been delivered"
